Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick in Torch Review

Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick in Torch

I've got lots and lots of love for Revlon Colorstay line. It's full of great long wearing products for oily skinned people like me! But cream shadow is still tricky business. I decided to try it out any how.

I purchased the relatively new Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick in Torch. It's double ended with all over the lid color and a darker crease color. Torch's lid color is shimmery and pearly light beige with pink undertone, and the crease color is shimmery dark warm brown. Pretty safe but a great combo, I would say!

The lid color side was a bit sheer. You definitely have to swipe four or five times to get the opaque color. The crease color on the other hand was very pigmented. Both sides glided on smoothly and blended well.

It's quite a chubby stick. Each end twists up and down independently. The crease color end is more pointed but as you use it, that's bound to be flattened out. One thing I wasn't too happy about the packaging is that the crease color end moved and rattled a bit when I had it twisted up a bit. Twisting it up all the way up and then down corrected the problem temporarily, but rattling was back soon.

Now the issue of wearing time. Is it worth the name of Colorstay? Yes, I think so. On my extremely oily lids, cream shadows/bases stand no chance by themselves. It only takes an hour or a couple to see creasing. For this one, I didn't see creasing until 5 hours without primer and 7 hours with primer! \o/ Obviously that's not perfect but that's quite impressive! :D I am sure it will last longer if you set it with translucent powder or eyeshadow, but it's meant to be eyeshadow so I tested without setting it. Also I did not notice any fading. :)

This shadow stick didn't disappoint. Although the pigmentation of the lighter color has a room for improvement, but I see this one being very useful as eyeshadow and a base. Its "Colorstay"ness is definitely there but if your eyelids are extremely oily, this won't last all day alone. :) I am glad that there is now a long wearing cream shadow in the drugstore beside Maybelline Color Tattoos. A world of option is nice. :)

  1. Love these..have every color. Did not use primer and it wore nicely all day. I have basically threw out my powder shadows and this is my go to shadow every day. They are very easy and convenient to use. All the color combos are beautiful. I wear a different one every day. There are a lot of negative reviews on these not sure why. For me a definite repurchase.
